The Manifesting Solution had Already Arrived!

I was recently reminded of my own manifesting story from 2012. A group of artist friends and I had been talking about how to promote ourselves better individually, and someone in the group had an idea, what if we exhibited together? It was a great thought and there was some conversation about it. Someone in the group called to fill me in and we set up a meeting to investigate it further. We gathered at my house right away and started going through the possibilities. “You wrote the manifesting book,” someone said. “Let’s use it and make this happen.” One of the keys, we agreed, would be finding an exhibition space big enough for five or six of us, and attractive enough to pull in the public. Between all our contacts, we figured we could land a first venue somewhere. Then I said something a little bolder than I meant to, “Why not aim high and go for a museum space?” The room went quiet. Could we actually manifest something like that? Then someone said, “I know someone who works at a museum,” and it hit me, so did I, the same person. Our contact worked at a large, beautifully appointed private museum in the Denver Tech Center. We started planning our pitch that day, reached out to the museum days after and they quickly got back to us with their acceptance. We had a date for our first exhibition, just a few months out. Here’s my problem with the quick deadline… I never keep a lot of finished work in my studio, and I had no idea how I would paint and frame enough paintings in time. Manifesting is something I practice every day, so once the show was real, I started visualizing us pulling it off, all of us together and successfully. But my current works in progress weren’t coming together fast enough. I was nowhere close to holding up my end and the concerns were mounting. I know better than to give into fear and manifest a failure, so I kept my head up and continued to manifest a great outcome for us. A month earlier, a gallery representing me in California just had closed. They had promoted my work well, and I’d been counting on that relationship for income, so losing it stung, They were shipping my framed paintings back to me but my impression was the shipping would take a lot of time. I was sitting at my desk turning all of this over in a less than optimal mood. The doorbell rang and it was a truck with all the returned paintings, deepening the funk of the lost gallery. The next morning my friend from the museum called, wanting to go through the exhibition details and I felt a little helpless and unprepared on that call. Then I glanced across the room and saw it: a stack of my paintings, unexpectedly returned from California just the day before. Eight large works, already framed and ready to hang. I was floored. It had not once occurred to me that those paintings, the very ones I’d been mourning, were exactly what I needed for the museum show! The rest of the call with the museum director went beautifully, because suddenly I had everything ready to deliver, well ahead of the opening. The show itself was a big success. Between the museum’s mail list and our group’s own, we drew a large crowd that night and in the months following, all of my exhibited paintings sold. What still gets me, even after years of collecting manifesting stories from all of you, is how exactly what I needed was already sitting in a stack across the room. I simply hadn’t connected the dots yet or fully allowed my manifesting to occur in a timely way. I’m glad to pass this on this magical example of manifesting… a nice rabbit out of the hat!Ken ________________________________ Want more?
