I Caught a Break and I Kept it Going

I Caught a Break and I Kept it Going Catherine writes:I was driving my car while it was raining, and as I got into an intersection, my transmission just stopped working. The car wouldn’t go forward, and I was stuck there with a policeman in the intersection directing traffic because the traffic lights were out in the area. I ended up right beside him, and he instructed me to clear the intersection, but I couldn’t make it happen. The engine was running, but the transmission wouldn’t engage. While he was instructing me to move, the car suddenly popped back into gear, and I immediately pulled into an empty parking lot at that corner and called for a tow to the dealership. It was a dicey part of town, but it was like I had my own personal police officer nearby. No worry there. I stayed in the car until the tow truck arrived. Earlier, I had picked up a lunch to deliver to a friend of mine, so I gave it to the driver, and he was happy to have it. The entire time, I didn’t panic and was certain that everything would work out just fine. I didn’t concern myself with the cost of transmission repairs, never giving in to the fear. At the dealership, I explained that I had purchased an extended warranty. They said it would take a little time to review the damage, and they would get back to me. I just knew it was going to be no big deal. This was going to get resolved easily, and I wouldn’t be out a lot of money. The dealer called the next day and said, “Hey, I’ve got some news for you. The transmission is toast. They’re going to send an inspector out here to look at it, and the inspector will decide whether or not this can be covered under your warranty.” I told them I was okay with that, and I firmly held on to the thought that this was no big deal and it was going to get taken care of. Then came the second call: “The inspector approved your extended warranty. You will have a brand-new transmission put in for $500, the amount of your deductible. It’s going to cost nine to ten grand just for the transmission itself, plus our labor to fix everything.” So with all of that, all I have to pay in this entire process is the $500. I have manifested a new transmission for my car! On top of that, a good friend has loaned me her car during this time, so I don’t have any expenses in that regard. The dealership is going to have my car for 7 to 10 days, so I have dodged the extra expense of a car rental as well, thank you very much. And one more thing. When I was driving in the bad weather with a transmission that was about to go out, the traffic lights in the area had stopped working. My transmission went out in the middle of an intersection with an officer controlling the traffic. Fascinating! I was fortunate that the malfunction happened in exactly the place where the policeman could keep the cars off me. The whole episode is a bit miraculous. I did my part by consistently manifesting a favorable outcome, and that is exactly what happened. Thank you for letting me pass this on.Catherine ________________________________ Want more?
