Even Small Intentions Can Create the Dreams of a Lifetime

Even Small Intentions Can Create the Dreams of a Lifetime

So, I fell into my current career path by accident. I was taking care of a boyfriend who had a major injury and was on crutches for five years. Eventually we broke up but remained friends. It was a good thing because he recommended me to a acquaintance of his that had Parkinson’s disease and needed full-time help. She became my first client. As time went on, I thought it would be more practical for me to live in her home rather than commute, so I brought it up to my client. I was without a home at the time and I had never planned providing live-in care as part of my future, but the idea mysteriously came to me and my client agreed. I remained there for 3 1/2 years.

Being with this client enabled me to build my skills in taking care of someone, making their life comfortable and being of service to them during the dying process. She was very kind to me and upon her death, she gifted me some money. Her gift allowed me to take time for myself so I decided to travel to Scotland and Ireland. I really fell in love with Scotland and cried before I left the Highlands. I decided that the next time I would forgo the rental car and get closer to the land via bicycle. (And I did)

Shortly after my return to the U.S., I looked at my bank account and said, “Oh my, you need a job and quickly!” Less than an hour later, the phone rang and it was a husband looking for my services. I was hired to help his wife and she survived for two months. That job was just what I needed and it came incredibly fast!

After her death, I saw that my bank account was once again in serious shape with maybe $250 total, so I began to map out my future. In my mind I was working on how I wanted things to be. In the interim, I ended up living with at my brother’s house. After a few days there, I found a dime on the floor. I thought, “Is someone talking to me?” Apparently, because my intentions I had been working on manifested the very next day. A friend of my first client, a woman I met earlier and really admired, asked if I had a job, and I said no.

She offered to fly me out to East Coast to help for a few weeks and I jumped at the chance. Two days later, I was on the plane traveling first class and was met at the airport by her hired limousine. Everything went very well with us and we decided that it would be a good idea for me to care for her as a full-time, live-in caregiver. This part gets interesting because she has 3 homes different parts of the U.S and each is visited at different times of the year. Amazingly, it just so happens that each of her homes is in a different state where I happen to have my own family spread out across the country. In the same 3 states I have two of my sons and their grandchildren, my daughter’s family and grandson, some best friends and my mother. I am traveling to these states throughout the year with my client at no cost to me and I am able to visit all of my family and best friends. It is absolutely amazing how this worked out that way.

I am almost 4 years now with this client. She is elderly and she does need help with certain things but the work I do for her comes with a lot of companionship. We enjoy each other’s company and we are both travel bugs. In addition to visiting her 3 homes, we travel abroad a couple of times a year and see a lot of the world together. I’ve acquired many flier miles with the airlines and have had the pleasure of many miles on private flights – it is like first class and then some.

It all started with the simple act of asking for what I required andI putting it out to the universe. Yes, I was under pressure, but I didn’t limit what the best solution would be for me and I didn’t panic and worry myself sick about how my positive outcomes would happen or when.

I asked and stayed out of the way, allowing my best solution to be selected from the largest number of scenarios. It all worked out better than I could have imagined and I am so very grateful!

Fascinating as always. Trusting is a key in this story, and remaining open when ideas fly around!
