Quickly Creating a Negative Result, Ouch!

Quickly Creating a Negative Result, Ouch!

I am a happy, upbeat person. I wake up grateful and I understand that the day may have ups and downs but I’m happy to be alive and healthy. I enjoy every day. I’m really proud of that fact and people tell me that I am a positive influence on their lives.

Now that we have that out of the way, I want to talk about my Big Damn Cell Phone Problem. It was back in March when my smart phone contract with a major carrier turned into an aggravating time sink. My daughter, son and I share a family billing plan and happily, she recently purchased a very nice iPhone, rolling the charge into the family plan. The sun shone brightly and the birds were singing.

The next month I got a bill for $1000. and it was auto-charged to my credit card. Clearly there was an error on the bill so I called to talk with someone to get it it corrected. After being redirected to three people, I was finally informed that yes, the company had made an error and the overpayment would be refunded. My patience and pleasant demeanor were rewarded. It was another happy day.

Not. Shortly after, I double-checked and found that my overcharge still hadn’t been properly adjusted. At this point let’s fast-forward, shall we? This billing problem still remains after months. The phone company is still in agreement that the error is theirs but they can’t seem to correct the charge. It doesn’t matter how many times I call or how many hours are spent on hold, the problem still persists and my resolution is nowhere in sight.

It was a crummy ordeal but something I kept on simmer until I got a call from my son. He is also on this plan and when he went to upgrade his phone he was told that the family plan was in delinquency because the bill hadn’t been paid. He was denied the option to upgrade his phone. By now I was expert on the workings of this company and I’m thinking he’ll get that phone when cows are making calls from the moon.

I was doing okay with this ongoing problem but when it involved my son it set me off. I was fuming with all of this as I pulled into my driveway and saw my empty trash cans on the curb. This is something I’m very capable of handling but for whatever reason today, my mind went into a new gear. I was struggling with the idea of getting them now or to wait until later. “Now!” I said. I had to do it Now!

I was out of the car in a flash, aggravated and in a forceful mood. I wanted this taken care of. I wanted everything taken care of. I got the cans to the side of the house and forcefully put them in place. Since this is not my normal mode, my aggressive ballet went badly. I stepped on my own foot hard, lost my balance, leaned over sideways while still standing on the my foot and felt a crack. You know what? It really hurt and that made me mad too. Mad, mad, mad! Is this a family newsletter? Never mind.

That negativity I was carrying around ramped up fast! Other negative thoughts were piling on as well. I was fuming and out of control.

The pain shifted my thinking. I knew I had caused this. The cans were not the problem – they’re out there almost 100 times a year. The problem was in my head. I got into a negative spiral and immediately had a negative result.

I was limping around but I was learning something from this. If I can use my thoughts to do something negative, then I can just as easily focus my thoughts to make positive results. I accepted complete responsibility for what had happened and promised myself that I would not be consumed by negativity, aggravation and fear so easily again.

Because of my trashcan episode, I now have the clarity and painful training to examine the kind of thoughts bouncing around in my head. Are they negative or positive? I’ve read Manifesting 123 so I know that I can create things and it really works. So now I ask myself, what am I creating? Is it what I want or more garbage?

Bottom line? The doctor said I fractured the bone on the outside of my foot. It hurt a lot and I had to pay that bill too. The phone bill got taken care of and the garbage cans are no worse for wear but I learned a valuable lesson. I’m going to be careful about what I think and say. I’m truly grateful for this experience. Stay tuned, I’m going to make some really good things happen next.

Terry

That hurts!

Terry did a great job explaining the cause and effect  of those aggravating thoughts. It was illuminating to limp through the wreckage with her and watch her thinking move into positive territory. She got to see what her thoughts could create in real time. Although many would label this as a negative experience, Terry gained valuable insights that will be good for a lifetime.

All in all, you could say it was a cheap lesson. Yes, she had to pay the doctor bills but Imagine if Terry had lashed out at a customer, coworker or family member. She could have inflicted a wound on another that would have been hard to heal. Her episode was a private one and we thank you for passing on what you have learned.

Watch out for the trash!
